Education for Parents of Indigenous Children with Special Needs (EPICS)

Community Parent Resource Center serving families of Native American children with disabilities or developmental delays; includes a direct phone contact.

Online portal to apply for benefits (including Medicaid, WIC, food stamps, temporary assistance, etc.). Resources also list a phone line to complete an application over the phone if unable to online.

ECECD Child Care Assistance

State information and tools to search child care programs (and request help by phone for customized referrals).

Children's Medical Services

State program for children and youth with special health care needs; offers specialty clinics, referral, care coordination, and limited medical coverage for qualifying families.

Early Childhood Education & Care Department (ECECD)

ECECD is a NM state agency that helps coordinate a continuum of programs from prenatal care to age 5. Their website covers prenatal care, safe sleep, universal childcare, PreK, family services & education, scholarships, and more.

Postpartum Support International Helpline

Postpartum Support International - New Mexico Chapter

New Mexico chapter hub that points families to PSI help and support options, including the PSI helpline and crisis alternatives if needed.

New Mexico Crisis & Access Line

Free, confidential 24/7 support for emotional, mental, and substance use struggles in New Mexico; call the line and/or dial 988. 

Medicaid Postpartum Benefit

In NM, Medicaid coverage has been extended to one year postpartum for mothers. Medicaid will cover services for mental health, dental health, primary care, etc. 

Breastfeeding & Lactation Support

NM WIC Peer Counselor Program

Free peer-to-peer breastfeeding support program for certified pregnant and breastfeeding WIC participants.

NM Breastfeeding Task Force

Statewide nonprofit promoting lactation and supporting families and communities; offers contact support and links to resources.

La Leche League of New Mexico

Volunteer-led breastfeeding/chestfeeding help line and local group support; statewide warm line available daily. 

National Women's Health & Breastfeeding Helpline

Federal helpline staffed by health information specialists (including breastfeeding peer counselors) for women’s health questions and breastfeeding support (English/Spanish).

UNM CDD Parents as Teachers

Family Connects New Mexico

Free nurse home visits for families with newborns in the first weeks after birth; includes a statewide warmline and email contact. 

UNM CDD HATCH Program

Support for families transitioning home after NICU or special care; includes a direct line and program email.

UNM CDD Nurse-Family Partnerships

Safe Sleep Resources

Program offering safe sleep education and a pathway to request a free Pack ’n Play for eligible New Mexico families after completing Safe Sleep training.

Free Safe Sleep Baby Kit (bassinet + materials) available through local Home Visiting programs; families can call to connect and request.

Safe to Sleep Campaign

National campaign providing safe sleep education materials and outreach; includes a public contact number in campaign materials.

Cribs for Kids

National organization focused on preventing sleep-related infant deaths through education and access to safe sleep spaces; toll-free contact line provided.

Child & Adolescent Mental Health Support

NM Public Education Department (NM PED) Behavioral Health

The NM PED supports student behavioral health through school-based services, social-emotional learning initiatives, and partnerships that connect students and families with counseling and mental health resources. 

NMDOH Office of School and Adolescent Health (OSAH)

The OSAH works to improve the health and well-being of children and teens in New Mexico by supporting school-based health centers, youth leadership programs, and prevention initiatives. The office helps connect schools, families, and communities with services that promote physical and behavioral health for adolescents statewide.

NM Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) Behavioral Health Services

CYFD Behavioral Health Services provides prevention, treatment, and support programs for children, youth, and families experiencing mental health challenges. Services include community-based counseling, crisis support, substance use treatment, and family-centered care.

Kids Mental Health Foundation
– New Mexico Resources for Children

The Kids Mental Health Foundation offers information and tools to help parents and caregivers support children’s emotional well-being. Their New Mexico resource directory connects families with local mental health services, educational materials, and guidance on recognizing and responding to mental health concerns in children and adolescents.
